Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sunset House is a private guest suite located on the bright walkout lower level of our primary residence. The suite has its own entrance, foyer, sliding glass doors and dedicated outdoor guest areas. We live upstairs full time, but we lead a busy lifestyle and are mindful of our guests’ privacy. You’ll have your own space and independence. You may not see us during your stay, but we’re always available if you need anything.

We warmly welcome all respectful guests of every identity and background, creating a space where everyone can feel safe, valued, and completely at home.

  • There are 2 bedrooms with king and queen beds. If two bedrooms is not enough for your group, we would be happy to suggest alternative accommodations that are of the same standard. Please contact us for details.

  • Sunset House is located in the Black Mountain area of East Kelowna, a quiet, safe neighborhood known for its big sky views, access to nature, and proximity to everything Kelowna offers.

  • Downtown Kelowna and Okanagan Lake are about a 20-minute drive from the property. For more details, check the Location page.

  • Big White Ski Resort is approximately 30 minutes away, making Sunset House a convenient vacation rental near Big White for ski season. Kelowna Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Club is 25 minutes away.

  • Yes. Sunset House is a family friendly vacation rental in Kelowna, well suited for couples, small families, and groups of up to 4 - all year round. Infants under 2 are welcome. However, due to stairs, shared outdoor areas, and the overall layout, it may not be suitable for all children. We recommend reaching out if you’re unsure whether the space is a good fit.

  • Many couples enjoy a fabulous, romantic stay at Sunset House. We’ve even hosted honeymooners who have loved exploring all the area has to offer.

That said, experiences centered around complete “cocooning” in the suite, total seclusion, or absolute silence at all times of day and night may not be the best fit for our space.

The suite is located beneath our primary residence. Sunset House is not ideal for guests seeking total privacy or a very secluded, hotel-style experience. If that’s what you’re looking for, our recommendation would bconsidering Sparkling Hill Resort & Spa in Vernon.

We are always mindful of being quiet and respectful, and you may not see much of us during your stay. However, this is a hosted property and our lived-in home, so you may occasionally hear normal day-to-day household sounds.

Please also note that bathing suits are required in the hot tub, as it is located in a shared backyard space. While we provide guests with plenty of privacy, we do occasionally need access to the yard for routine tasks and hot tub maintenance.

We truly want every guest to have the experience they’re hoping for. Being transparent helps ensure Sunset House is the perfect match for your getaway.

  • No. Sunset House is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood and is intended for peaceful, respectful stays only.

  • Sunset House is thoughtfully designed for wellness-oriented getaways, couples, families, pet lovers, and active explorers who appreciate a calm, scenic setting without feeling completely secluded.

We happily host milestone celebrations and intimate reunions for small groups of up to four guests. It’s especially perfect for wellness-focused girls’ getaways.

Imagine starting your day with a peaceful morning yoga class and sound bath on the terrace, followed by a chauffeured wine tour through the Okanagan’s world-class vineyards. If that sounds like your perfect day, you’ll feel right at home here.

We love helping our guests experience the many facets of the Okanagan, and our curated Insider’s Guide is filled with our favorite local gems — from wineries and wellness experiences to hiking trails, beaches, and farm-to-table dining.

  • The hot tub is available for guest use but is located in a shared backyard space. Bathing suits are required. There are private guest hours from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and we only have one group of guests at a time. Guests text if they want to use the hot tub and we always accommodate undisturbed use.

  • Sunset House offers a calm, residential environment, but it is not a hotel. Because we live upstairs, guests may occasionally hear normal household activity during the day. About 99% of guests are comfortable with this setup and have the best experience.

  • No. While the suite is located on the lower level, the property is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs, outdoor surfaces, and layout constraints. There is no elevator in the home.
